From art to scent.
The Ring
In the early 2000s, Yaz Faradji, born in Constantine and based between Paris and Bali, showed a Balinese silversmith a photograph of a lost family ring. Two days later, the craftsman had recreated it by hand. The ring was presented in a traditional ceremony, and that encounter became the beginning of YAZ — Demon Free Jewelry.
The Art
Jewelry was one part of Yaz’s creative practice. He also worked with sculpture, painting, photography and mixed media, exploring how materials can carry memories and ideas.
The Dinner
Years later, Yaz shared a dinner with perfumer Francis Kurkdjian and fashion designer Alexandre Vauthier. As they discussed creativity, Yaz recognized something familiar in their approach: the exploration of materials, the search for expression and the process of turning an idea into a finished work.
The Atelier
Fragrance Atelier Bali brings that creative journey to Seminyak. Guests begin by smelling the oils and exploring what each scent evokes. They choose and combine the materials that speak to them, while our team guides the composition and blends it into a personal Eau de Parfum.

The Ring

Yaz opened a workshop in Denpasar and a showroom at 163 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. His jewelry brought together contemporary design and Balinese craftsmanship.
The Art
Jewelry was one part of Yaz’s creative practice. He also worked with sculpture, painting, photography and mixed media, exploring how materials can carry memories and ideas.
In his ICON series, he cast familiar sneakers in bronze, transforming objects of everyday culture into sculptures. His work was shown internationally, including at Artyze gallery in Hong Kong. ICON sculptures were sold at auction by Artcurial in Paris and Bonhams in London.
The Dinner
Years later, Yaz shared a dinner with perfumer Francis Kurkdjian and fashion designer Alexandre Vauthier. As they discussed creativity, Yaz recognized something familiar in their approach: the exploration of materials, the search for expression and the process of turning an idea into a finished work.
The conversation with Francis Kurkdjian, in particular, sparked Yaz’s interest in perfumery. Scent offered another way to create from memory and emotion. Over the following years, that interest grew into the idea for Fragrance Atelier.
